pictures - london

so this is my view for the next month - actually, it's a great location -- low buildings so I get some breeze, and on the back of the building, so I have 2 windows and cross ventilation.  V&A is just the other side of the taller brick buildings -- and as in all of europe, no screens -- and no skeeters -- amazing....

my room is housing for imperial college (it's term break) and these are the prince's gardens.  the trees look like they've been there about 100+ years.

V & A entrance hall - Chihuly chandelier and hereford rood screen.

detail of the screen

all the wonderful sculptures

and art is everywhere - even the women's john -- the blue lines that look random -- .....

form into 6 circles when you stand a certain place and look in the mirror !!

the courtyard is a great place for a sit and a nosh.. (and good coffee from the cart - & sandwiches...

or dine in style in tiled rooms - and really decent food --

the building was hit during the blitz, and the holes were left, and the inscription memorializes.

the side of V&A further down.  Again, you start to take for granted the amount of ornamentation on public buildings, and got to admire the sensibilities that incorporate a bench (really 2) into a border fence.

today's lunch in St. Martin's crypt.  Award winning cafe, and rightly so.

old glass in the church

the 4th plinth in trafalger square.  it was empty many years - now trades off modern sculptures.

proving I was there !!!  (and the column isn't in the top of my head....)

this is in the "I don't believe it" catagory.  Currywurst !!!
